The Chile Financial Market Commission (CMF) issued a public warning about 24 mobile applications that are not supervised by the CMF and that offer allegedly usurious loans, including apps available for download via Google Play and other websites. It also indicated it will file complaints with the Public Prosecutor’s Office against those responsible for the listed applications. The CMF directed consumers to its website Fraud Alerts Page, which allows investors, policyholders, and banking customers to check whether an entity or individual offering financial products or services is supervised by the CMF, review alerts issued by the CMF and other foreign regulators regarding unregulated entities or activities, and access other guidance aimed at protecting financial clients.
