Greece’s Ministry of National Economy and Finance announced that Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis is travelling to Luxembourg to participate in Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings. The Eurogroup session on 19 June is set to cover the euro area outlook, member state fiscal developments and internal barriers to competition in the context of International Monetary Fund reports, alongside preparations for the introduction of the digital euro and the process to elect a new Eurogroup President. At ECOFIN on 20 June, the European Commission will present a progress report on the EU Customs Union, focused on simplifying customs procedures for businesses and ensuring correct collection of duties and taxes for national budgets and the EU budget. Ministers are also scheduled to discuss options to reduce EU energy costs, next steps on financing European defence, and the continuing economic impact of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, including a dinner discussion on Ukraine’s economic and defence needs; the agenda also includes the Commission’s 2025 European Semester Spring Package with country-specific recommendations and the adoption of revised recovery and resilience plans for Spain, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia. Pierrakakis will additionally attend the annual meetings of the Boards of Governors of the European Stability Mechanism and the European Investment Bank and hold bilateral meetings on the margins.

Greece’s Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, will attend Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings in Luxembourg. The Eurogroup will discuss the euro area outlook, fiscal developments, and digital euro preparations, while ECOFIN will address EU Customs Union progress, energy cost reduction, European defence financing, and the economic impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Pierrakakis will also join meetings of the European Stability Mechanism and the European Investment Bank.
