Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds Administrators (SBS) published a statement welcoming the Peruvian Congress’s majority approval of the Economy, Banking, Finance and Financial Intelligence Committee report on bills that would designate a national Financial Education Week, an initiative on which the SBS provided technical input and closely followed. As part of the first week of October, the SBS is running an agenda of in-person and virtual workshops in Lima and across the country for groups including children, young people, entrepreneurs, employees, farmers and members of community kitchens. It will also make available a new “Learn with SBS” section on its website with videos, guides and infographics covering core concepts related to the financial system, insurance, pensions and cooperatives, including accessibility features for people with hearing disabilities and content in sign language and indigenous languages. The SBS also highlighted its ongoing programmes “Finanzas en el Cole” (since 2007, more than 30,000 teachers trained, indirectly benefiting over 1.8 million students) and “Finanzas Para Ti” (since 2012, more than 320,000 people trained through more than 4,000 talks, including over 22,000 in the first half of 2025).
