The Brazil Securities Commission (CVM) hosted the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Emerging Risks Committee (CER) meeting in Rio de Janeiro on 10–11 September, its first time hosting the committee in 10 years, as part of IOSCO’s work on identifying and mitigating emerging risks in capital markets. The event was opened by Acting President Otto Lobo and the Superintendent for International Relations, Eduardo Manhães. CVM was represented in the international meeting by Bruno Luna, head of the Economic Analysis, Risk Management and Integrity Office and a CER member, while Darcy Oliveira from the International Relations area participated in the discussions and highlighted CVM’s focus on emerging-markets analysis and coordination of CER work in South America. The agenda also included a panel on central bank digital currency and tokenisation (DREX), presented by Felippe Barretto from CVM alongside Fabio Araujo from the Central Bank of Brazil; CVM also noted it hosted IOSCO’s Secondary Markets Regulation Committee meeting in June.
