The Montenegro Capital Market Authority reported that its Chair, Željko Drinčić, spoke at the Sustainable Finance Forum, outlining the authority’s role in supporting the transition of Montenegro’s financial system and capital market toward sustainability and the integration of environmental, social and governance principles into corporate strategies and investment practices. In the “ESG in Action” panel, Drinčić indicated the authority would take an active role in aligning national legislation with European and global standards, including the EU taxonomy and ISSB and ESRS standards. He also highlighted an EU Twinning Light project to develop a new Corporate Governance Code, intended to underpin responsible business conduct, ESG risk management and transparent reporting, and pointed to green bonds, green credit lines, green insurance products and green investment funds as priority channels for mobilising capital toward greener and more socially responsible projects. The authority plans further educational and regulatory initiatives to raise awareness, strengthen institutional capacity and accelerate the move to sustainable finance.
