The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) under the Digital Financial Services Project for the Western Balkans, setting out joint work to improve digital financial services and strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina’s financial infrastructure. The project framework covers support for developing instant payment systems and open banking, and for improving non-cash payment systems more broadly. It also includes measures to strengthen cyber resilience through awareness-raising on security threats in the financial sector, advisory assistance to harmonise local regulations with European Union directives and standards, and initiatives to promote financial literacy by developing educational content for users of financial services. Implementation is described as being in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
