The Angola Capital Markets Commission (CMC) participated in a National Bank of Angola (BNA) conference on procedures for operating in the non-bank financial sector, where the CMC’s Director of the Market Supervision Office, Divaldo Silva, presented the key elements of the legal and regulatory regime applicable to non-bank financial institutions under CMC supervision. Held in Luanda as part of the BNA’s conference series, the event focused on sharing knowledge about licensing and registration rules and procedures for entities providing financial services outside the traditional banking system, encouraging formalisation and promoting financial inclusion. In a panel on “Licensing Rules for Non-Bank Financial Institutions”, speakers from the BNA, ARSEG and the CMC covered authorisation and registration processes, legal and organisational requirements, and supervisory mechanisms aimed at supporting transparency, efficiency and confidence in the market, with participation from national stakeholders and international institutions including the International Monetary Fund, the Bank of Mozambique and the Central Bank of Brazil.
