The National Bank of Serbia announced that official talks have begun between an International Monetary Fund mission and Serbia’s authorities, launched with a plenary meeting held at the central bank as part of the second review of the economic programme supported by the current Policy Coordination Instrument. The IMF mission, led by Annette Kyobe, will be in Belgrade from 22 to 30 October. Serbia’s delegation is led by National Bank of Serbia Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic, with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and a representative of the Ministry of Economy also participating. The discussions will cover recent macroeconomic developments, the outlook and risks, and progress in implementing the programme’s agenda and reforms; the first review was completed in June 2025 following an IMF Executive Board decision. The current Policy Coordination Instrument was approved on 9 December 2024 for 36 months, is advisory and does not provide financing, and is subject to semi-annual reviews; the mission will also include IMF Executive Director Patrick Lošvjetski, who represents the Switzerland-led constituency of which Serbia is a member.
