The Ministry of National Economy and Finance (Greece) published a readout of Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis’ meeting in Paris with France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Energy Sovereignty and Digital Sovereignty, Roland Lescure, focused on closer coordination on key European economic priorities. The discussion centred on strengthening EU competitiveness and deepening the single market, including simplifying the EU regulatory framework to reduce administrative burdens on businesses and support investment, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. The ministers also discussed the EU Savings and Investments Union as a mechanism to mobilise private capital, strengthen capital markets, and finance growth and innovation. They referenced the findings of the Draghi report on European competitiveness, highlighting the impact of internal barriers on the functioning of the single market and the need to remove restrictions that hinder cross-border economic activity within the EU, with the aim of improving productivity and Europe’s overall growth potential. Pierrakakis outlined Greece’s economic trajectory and ongoing reforms to improve the business environment, and pointed to opportunities for further Greek-French cooperation in areas linked to European competitiveness and resilience.
