The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (BQK) wrapped up its International Money Week 2025 programme, combining financial education activities with a public awareness push on digital-security risks and online fraud. The week also served as a platform to launch the “WE Finance Code” initiative aimed at supporting access to finance for women entrepreneurs and to open a research competition for young economists. International Money Week ran from 17 to 21 March 2025 under the theme “Think before you click, for financial security tomorrow”. Activities included prize awards to school pupils for five videos and 20 artworks selected from 119 applicants, an outreach campaign delivered with the Kosovo Banking Association across social media, messaging platforms and commercial banks’ communication channels, and events with students including a governor’s lecture and a school debate on full digitisation of banking services and a cashless society. The WE Finance Code launch conference drew over 110 participants and was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Business Registration Agency to exchange business data, with a focus on women-owned or co-owned businesses, alongside letters of intent from institutions committing to support the initiative. The “Young Economist Award” competition is open from 17 March 2025 to 1 October 2025 for Bachelor, Master and PhD students, with suggested topics spanning artificial intelligence in financial services and risk management, emerging fraud risks and cross-border anti-money laundering prevention, central bank roles in sustainable finance and CSR and ESG adoption, financial market evolution and stability, remittances and productivity, and consumer protection against digital-finance fraud.
