The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs has advanced Kevin Warsh’s nomination, President Trump’s pick to serve as the next Governor and Chair of the Federal Reserve. The nomination now moves to the full Senate for consideration. In opening remarks, Chairman Tim Scott said Warsh’s previous service as a Federal Reserve Governor during the financial crisis made him prepared to lead the central bank. Scott also framed the nomination around inflation, interest rates and the need for a Federal Reserve that, in his view, is more responsive to American families than to political pressures.
