The Chile Financial Market Commission (CMF) has launched a call for research projects from the academic community on topics linked to its mandate, aiming to support policy-relevant analysis and public debate while strengthening the technical capacity of CMF researchers. Proposals are open to independent researchers and those affiliated with universities or research centres, with submissions due by 1 July 2025. The call covers three research lines: financial system stability, protection of clients and depositors, and market development. Illustrative topics include the depth of the Chilean financial system and measures to boost it, sustainable finance, the impact of emerging risks on financial stability (including technological, geopolitical and climate-related risks), and how financial information and education influence financial decisions. Each project must comply with the conditions in Annex 1 of the CMF Policy for Publishing Non-Regular Documents and Institutional Reports and the conditions for studies with external researchers, include at least one CMF researcher designated by the Commission, and target at least one output comparable in quality to an academic journal article. Proposals will be assessed by the CMF Editorial Committee against CMF priorities and available institutional and strategic resources. Applicants will be notified of approval or rejection within 20 business days after the call closes, and approved projects will proceed under an agreement that specifies no payments to researchers and no CMF expenditure.
