The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has launched the spring session of its virtual International Fellows Program, marking the programme’s 20th anniversary and drawing 202 insurance regulators from 37 jurisdictions. The session runs through May 12 and focuses on key elements of the U.S. state-based insurance regulatory system. The programme includes 24 lectures prepared by NAIC technical experts, with direct engagement between experts and participating fellows. Participating jurisdictions span Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Eurasia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America, including countries such as Egypt, India, Taiwan, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Brazil and Uruguay. The NAIC traces the programme’s origins to a 2004 China intern pilot, formalised it as an international internship programme in 2005, and renamed it the International Fellows Program in 2010. Since inception, it has hosted more than 700 participants from more than 50 countries through virtual and in-person formats.
