The Central Bank of Russia has published a profile of chief executive officers who serve as the sole executive bodies of financial institutions, drawing on data covering credit institutions and insurance companies, non-governmental pension funds, and microfinance and management companies. The profile describes a “typical” CEO as a 50-year-old man with a university degree who has been in the role for an average of five years. Men account for around two-thirds of CEOs, although the share of women has increased in recent years. Most CEOs hold a university degree in economics, while IT qualifications are less common, and almost 20% of CEOs hold shares or stakes in the organisations they lead.
