The Central Bank of Chile reported that it placed first for a second consecutive year in the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum’s Gender Balance Index (GBI), and was the only central bank to receive a perfect score of 100 in the 2025 edition, reflecting equal representation across the leadership levels covered by the study. OMFIF’s GBI assesses 335 monetary and financial institutions worldwide, including 185 central banks, and measures the balance between women and men in senior management using a methodology that prioritises parity at the level of leadership roles across four categories: central banks, commercial banks, pension funds and sovereign funds. The central bank highlighted its recent performance in the central bank category (1st in 2024, 15th in 2023 and 18th in 2022) and noted that its President, Rosanna Costa, took part remotely in the launch of OMFIF’s report “A critical moment for women in finance”, linking the recognition to a strategic plan aimed at increasing women’s participation across the institution.
