The Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) president spoke at a postgraduate programme on anti-money laundering, transparency and counter-terrorist financing, outlining key legal and regulatory challenges and defending the CNV’s approach to regulating virtual asset service providers (PSAVs). He characterised Argentina’s PSAV framework as regionally and globally advanced, aimed at being effective and legally compliant while avoiding overregulation and unnecessary industry costs and maintaining space for innovation. The remarks referenced work carried out at pace following the enactment of Law No. 27,739 and highlighted collaboration with industry participants. The course itself focuses on risk-based AML/CFT compliance and international standards, including Financial Action Task Force (FATF-GAFI) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recommendations and financial sanctions considerations, with coverage of challenges linked to bitcoin, fintech and emerging technologies.
