The Superintendency of Banks of the Dominican Republic, through Superintendent Alejandro Fernández W., delivered a lecture at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña on the agency’s role in supporting financial system stability and on the progress and lessons from its institutional transformation over recent years, including efforts to align supervision with international standards. He presented a ten-point set of lessons from the past five years, highlighting strategic planning in public management, strengthening risk culture, and promoting sustainability and institutional continuity. The presentation also pointed to the use of technology and innovation to improve processes, a shift toward more effective supervision and more user-oriented public services, and the importance of clear public communication, leadership emotional intelligence, and a technically strong team combining public- and private-sector experience.
