The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan has launched an “Economic Journalism Development Support Programme” for journalism students at Baku Slavic University, positioning it as part of its efforts to broaden public communication and strengthen cooperation with the media. The programme opened with an initial session attended by more than 30 students. The first training, delivered by Tarana Alirzayeva, Head of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Accountability Department, covered the fundamentals of macroeconomics and how to apply them in journalism, including monetary policy objectives and instruments, forecasting principles, and modern trends in central bank communication; students were also introduced to the Central Bank’s official websites and financial literacy electronic resources. The initiative, described as a continuation of activities linked to the 150th anniversary of the national press, is expected to include sessions across eight core central banking areas delivered by Central Bank representatives.
