Moldova's Ministry of Finance held a working meeting on a draft law designed to improve the comparability of fees for payment accounts, streamline the process for switching accounts, and ensure access to payment accounts with basic services. The draft was developed by the National Commission for Financial Markets and is being promoted by the Ministry of Finance. Discussions brought together State Secretary Cristina Ixari, representatives of the National Commission for Financial Markets, the State Tax Service, the banking sector, and non-bank payment service providers. A key focus was the payment accounts register managed by the State Tax Service, including data access, information quality, and potential improvements, alongside measures intended to strengthen consumer protection, increase financial inclusion, enhance transparency of bank charges, support vulnerable consumers, and boost consumer mobility and competition through simplified switching procedures. The Ministry of Finance will continue technical consultations to finalise the draft and align it with European standards.
