Bank of Indonesia published updated monetary aggregates showing economic liquidity, as reflected in broad money (M2), continued to expand in February 2026, though at a slower pace. M2 reached Rp10,089.9 trillion, growing 8.7% year on year, down from 10.0% year on year in January 2026. By component, M2 growth was driven by narrow money (M1) expanding 14.4% year on year and quasi-money growing 3.1% year on year. The central bank attributed February’s M2 developments primarily to net claims on central government, which rose 25.6% year on year (up from 22.6% a month earlier), and disbursed loans, which grew 8.9% year on year (down from 10.2% in January); disbursed loans are limited to loans and exclude loan-type financial instruments such as debt securities, banker’s acceptances and repo claims, as well as loans from offshore branches of locally incorporated commercial banks and lending to the central government and non-residents.
