The Central Bank of Egypt announced that banks’ contributions to corporate social responsibility projects reached nearly EGP 3.9 billion in 2024, directed to priority service sectors including healthcare, social welfare, informal settlement development, women’s empowerment, support for persons with disabilities, and education. Healthcare received the largest allocation at approximately EGP 2.5 billion, followed by social welfare at nearly EGP 447 million. Other allocations included EGP 178 million for developmental projects and informal settlement transformation, EGP 149 million for women’s empowerment initiatives, around EGP 136 million for projects supporting persons with disabilities, and EGP 110 million for education. Additional funding included around EGP 100 million for entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises, EGP 22 million for sports, arts and culture projects, and EGP 18 million for national initiatives, alongside nearly EGP 153 million allocated to projects across multiple service sectors.
