The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has launched coordinated field operations with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and police to identify insurance coverage for people killed or injured in an earthquake-related building collapse, with the aim of accelerating insurance payouts to heirs and affected parties. OIC legal and policyholder protection teams visited the joint incident command centre and coordinated with Bang Sue Metropolitan Police Station to obtain lists of fatalities and injuries. The OIC also discussed data integration with BMA leadership and the BMA Medical Department, under which confirmed identities of deceased victims will be shared with the OIC for verification of insurance entitlements. Names will be checked through the Insurance Bureau System (IBS) to identify any linked insurance policies, after which the OIC will coordinate directly with relevant insurers to facilitate prompt claims handling; relatives can also request an insurance check by providing the victim’s name and national identification details to the OIC, with hotline support available around the clock.
