Angola's Ministry of Finance reported on a cooperation protocol signed between the Insurance Regulatory and Supervisory Agency (ARSEG) and the National Institute for Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) to strengthen coordination on regulation, supervision and the promotion of insurance for smaller businesses, as part of efforts to increase insurance penetration in the national economy. The protocol is framed around improving the inclusion of micro, small and medium enterprises in the financial and insurance system and promoting compliance with Decree No. 53/05 of 15 August, which sets the legal regime for workplace accidents and occupational diseases. ARSEG’s chair, Filomena Airosa Manjata, positioned the agreement as a step to strengthen the business base through MSME inclusion in the context of economic diversification, while INAPEM’s head, Bráulio Augusto, said the partnership should help MSMEs operate with greater security and predictability, supporting formalisation and resilience.
