Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia have initiated the Indonesia Digital Innovation Center (PIDI) to strengthen innovation and digital talent development in Indonesia’s financial services sector. The initiative was marked by the hybrid DIGDAYA x Hackathon 2026 event held at Bank Indonesia’s office in Jakarta. PIDI is positioned as a regulator-led platform to help participants progress through mentoring, training and industry networking under the DIGDAYA programme, while the Hackathon serves as a structured forum for collaborative technology-based experimentation to address national challenges. OJK emphasised that digitalisation’s benefits for business innovation and financial inclusion need to be matched by strong governance, risk management and consumer protection, including risk mitigation measures such as the Indonesia Anti-Scam Center; the launch event involved 1,300 participants and a range of industry associations. The start of PIDI also opened registration for the Hackathon 2026 competition, with professional and student categories, running from 23 February to 27 March 2026.
