The UAE Cabinet approved a new federal government framework to deploy agentic artificial intelligence across government operations, aiming to shift 50% of government sectors, services and operations to autonomous AI models within two years. The meeting also adopted a set of unified standards and data policies intended to support more consistent and integrated delivery of government services. Implementation will be overseen by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, supported by a dedicated taskforce chaired by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, and will be phased across ministries and federal entities with ongoing performance and impact assessment. The framework envisages redesigning policies, processes and procedures around AI capabilities, assessing ministers and directors general on adoption and implementation speed, and providing continuous specialised training for federal employees to master generative AI tools. Complementary measures approved include the UAE Code for Government Services and Zero Bureaucracy as a single federal reference model, a government services digital records policy defining digital records as the official source of core data, a government services data sharing policy based on collecting data once and reusing it securely, and a guide to align digital government projects with national priorities, including reuse of capabilities such as digital identity and digital wallets and the use of feasibility studies and pilots to avoid duplication. Separately, the Cabinet reconstituted the Higher Committee for Free Trade Negotiations, which includes the Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, and reconstituted the Board of Emirates Development Bank.
