The National Bank of Moldova held the seventh edition of its “Drumul banilor” (Road of Money) financial education event as part of Moldovan leu day activities, drawing more than 200 pupils and students from major cities and remote villages to explore how money circulates in the economy. In remarks at the event, Governor Anca Dragu framed the initiative as helping young people understand economic realities and the role of money. The programme included a guided visit to the central bank’s exhibition hall on the history of the national currency, including the evolution of the Moldovan leu over the 32 years since its introduction, alongside a display of commemorative and jubilee gold and silver coins. Practical sessions focused on identifying security features on Moldovan leu banknotes and learning about their modernisation, followed by visits to licensed banks to see how banks operate and their role in the economy.
