Kazakhstan's Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market announced the election of journalist and media manager Mira Khalina as chair of its Financial Literacy Expert Council and set out the council’s near-term focus for improving public financial literacy. The council’s membership was expanded to include new participants, including representatives of the Ministries of Education, Internal Affairs, and Culture and Information, as well as the National Bank, financial consultants and analysts. Discussions covered financial literacy initiatives such as education projects for school pupils and students and the development of content for different target groups using both traditional and digital media, alongside plans to broaden regional coverage through cooperation with local executive bodies and large extractive-sector companies. The council’s stated core task is to develop new approaches and provide expert assessment of activities to build the population’s financial literacy knowledge and skills over 2025–2028, following its establishment on 29 November 2024.
