The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission, with the Philippine Sustainability Reporting Committee and the United Nations Development Programme, held the second session of its Sustainability Reporting Capacity-Building Series on July 29. The training focused on assessing materiality and identifying sustainability-related risks, opportunities and impacts across value chains, continuing efforts to prepare companies to implement Philippine Financial Reporting Standards S1 and S2 following their adoption into the country’s reporting framework. The session addressed challenges identified in a March training needs assessment. Participants examined materiality under International Sustainability Standards Board standards, applied the ISSB’s four-step process for identifying and disclosing material information, and practiced reporting current and anticipated value-chain impacts. The commission emphasized that the standards are intended to produce focused, decision-useful information for investors rather than excessive or immaterial disclosures.
