The HKMA highlighted a fraudulent website involving Bank of Singapore Limited, phishing emails linked to China CITIC Bank International Limited, and both a fraudulent website and fake internet banking login screen associated with OCBC Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. It reiterated that banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites to carry out transactions, and will not request sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS. Individuals who provided personal information or conducted transactions in response to the scams were advised to contact the relevant bank using details in the corresponding bank press release and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force.
