The Bank of Canada announced changes to its Governing Council, with Deputy Governor Rhys Mendes leaving his post on April 10 and Deputy Governor Sharon Kozicki retiring on July 15. The Bank will undertake an internal recruitment process to fill both positions. Mendes, appointed in 2023, oversaw the Bank’s analysis of international economic developments and served as its G7 and G20 deputy, and is leaving to relocate to Toronto with his family. Kozicki joined the Bank in 2006 and was appointed Deputy Governor in 2021, with responsibility for analysis of domestic economic developments, following a career that also included roles in the US Federal Reserve System.
