Bolivia's Ministry of Finance announced the restoration of debit and credit card use in Bolivia, with the measure becoming fully available to the public by the end of 7 April. The change is intended to allow cardholders to resume normal financial operations domestically and abroad, including overseas payments, purchases on international platforms, use of digital services, and cash withdrawals outside the country. The ministry said the measure affects more than 2.7 million Bolivians and over 8 million cards. Credit cards can be used without restrictions, subject to repayment capacity, while banks must enable at least USD 500 for debit card use, with flexibility for any transaction size within that allowance and the possibility for each financial institution to increase the amount based on availability and internal policies. All transactions will be executed at the reference exchange rate of the Central Bank of Bolivia.
