The Oman Financial Services Authority issued a notice urging users of accounting and audit services to verify that any office they engage is licensed by the FSA, after observations in 2025 found some offices practising without an FSA licence. It reiterated that firms must hold an official FSA licence to undertake accounting and auditing work and stated that any audit contract or agreement with an unlicensed person or office is invalid and will not be recognised. The authority clarified that a commercial registration does not constitute a licence to practise accounting and auditing and does not authorise the holder to provide these services without the FSA’s professional approval. Market participants were directed to consult the official, updated list of authorised offices published on the FSA website before signing any contract.
