The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili participated in International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings with regional central bank governors and with Western Balkan counterparts during the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., including discussions on Europe’s economic outlook and a proposal to establish an IMF South East Europe Technical Assistance Center (SETAC). The closed-door annual meeting with central bank governors from Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe, chaired by IMF Europe Director Alfred Kammer, reviewed current developments and expectations for key economic and financial indicators against global geopolitical and economic dynamics. In a subsequent meeting with finance ministers and central bank governors from the Western Balkans and Moldova, opened by Kammer and Deputy Director Mark Horton, participants discussed the proposed SETAC scope, covering monetary and fiscal policy, financial stability, financial supervision, financial statistics, governance, and anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism.
