The State Bank of Vietnam held an internal meeting to assess the current state of its information technology systems and set out solutions, with Governor Nguyen Thi Hong instructing business units and the IT Department to conduct a system-by-system review, propose remediation and upgrades, and strengthen security and resilience. The IT Department reported that the State Bank of Vietnam’s IT estate comprises 24 business information systems, five shared software systems and five shared infrastructure systems hosted in its data centres, which have been continuously managed, monitored, operated and maintained and are running smoothly without major incidents. The Governor directed heads of units to assess how far current systems can meet management and operational needs, raise practical issues and recommendations to the responsible Deputy Governor and the IT Department, and develop an appropriate upgrade roadmap. Units were also asked to identify gaps and constraints and propose related changes to legal, technical and other regulatory documents, while working directly with the IT Department on specific solutions. Cyber and information security was emphasised as a core requirement for each business system, with the IT Department tasked to coordinate monitoring, early risk detection and preventative defence across internal and external stakeholders, and to continue acting as the focal point for digital transformation work with clear implementation roadmaps.
