The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority held a working session with insurance companies on Sept. 2 to gather feedback on a draft fraud control guideline. The measure advances the authority’s recent focus on identifying and reporting misconduct in the insurance market and will set out approaches for detecting, preventing and reporting fraud. The National Prosecutions Service’s Dar es Salaam regional office briefed participants on criminal offenses arising from insurance activities and encouraged reporting for law enforcement action. TIRA plans to refine the guideline using stakeholder recommendations and issue it for use by insurance businesses, other stakeholders and the public.
