The Financial Intelligence Unit of Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds (SBS) has launched a five-day training course to strengthen the preparation of expert evidence in proceedings involving money laundering linked to illicit drug trafficking and other predicate offences. The programme, delivered with the European Union’s Copolad III initiative and Peru’s National Commission for Development and a Drug-Free Life (Devida), runs from 20 to 24 January at the SBS Training Centre. The course covers advanced economic, financial and tax analysis, alongside topics including the use of cryptoassets in financial crime, forensic auditing for judicial investigations, international best practices in financial investigations, and the use of open-source intelligence (OSINT). Participants include experts from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the National Police Anti-Drug Directorate, the judiciary, the anti-money laundering directorate and other professionals involved in investigating money laundering and terrorist financing.
