Dominican Republic's Superintendency of Banks announced that its ProUsuario mobile application, which provides remote access to the Superintendency’s Office of Services and User Protection, has exceeded half a million registered users. The app, launched in October 2021, has 503,200 registered users and is used as a channel for consumer complaints and other interactions with the supervisor. The Superintendency reported that 27% of complaints submitted via the app come from users living outside Greater Santo Domingo, including 6% from the Deep South and the Northwest Line, and that 48% of interactions with ProUsuario take place through the app and other digital channels. Features include access to credit history, checks for inactive or abandoned accounts, comparisons of personal indebtedness against similar profiles, and verification of deposits held at entities in liquidation or dissolution, alongside an opt-out request from financial institutions’ call lists and a Banking Map to locate branches, ATMs and banking agents; the app is free and available on Google Play and the App Store.
