Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) announced it will prepare an OJK Regulation on strengthening Indonesia’s health insurance ecosystem, to be consulted with the House of Representatives’ Commission XI. The decision postpones the planned 1 January 2026 effective date of OJK Circular Letter No. 7 of 2025 on the administration of health insurance products, with the circular’s provisions to be reset through the forthcoming regulation. Development of the OJK Regulation follows a 30 June 2025 working meeting with Commission XI and is intended to provide a stronger legal basis and more comprehensive rules for health insurance, including improved governance and prudential standards for health insurance product provision. OJK also indicated it will continue coordinating with stakeholders across policyholders/insureds, insurers and healthcare facilities. The new framework will take effect when the OJK Regulation is issued, with no publication timetable specified.
