The National Bank of Ukraine published the results of its Emerging Researcher Forum 2025, held in Kyiv on 23 May, highlighting an expanded format that evaluated both completed research papers and extended annotations and research ideas, and setting out how shortlisted work will be taken forward. The programme also added structured discussion with panelists from the NBU and invited experts. The forum brought together 20 young researchers from nine Ukrainian universities, with total participation reaching 60 including experts and academics, and covered topics including monetary policy, the foreign exchange market, financial stability, the labour market and the balance of payments. The keynote lecture, Central Bank Independence: How Research Has Changed Monetary Policy Institutions, was delivered by Viktor Koziuk. The jury awarded three winners: Yurii Havryliuk and Lev Tsehotskyi (Odesa National Economic University) for the best poster on climate change impacts on economic and financial cycles in Ukraine, Maria Khomenko (Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University) with Danylo Borsuk and Anhelina Osadcha (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv) for a topical case study on import transformation during the war, and Petro Nochovkin (Kyiv School of Economics) for best data analysis on regional employment trends using job-search site data. The NBU will recommend the most interesting papers for publication in a special issue of the Visnyk of the National Bank of Ukraine, either as scientific articles or abstracts, and authors of the best papers were offered internships at the central bank.
