Hong Kong’s Government, through the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, announced that the Chief Executive has reappointed Ms Julia Leung as Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission for a two-year term running from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, pursuant to the Securities and Futures Ordinance. The announcement highlighted Ms Leung’s leadership of the SFC’s regulatory and market development mandates, including securities market reforms, efforts to deepen mutual market access between Mainland China and Hong Kong, and expanding connections with overseas markets. It also referenced the SFC’s work to promote asset and wealth management, fixed income and currency markets, and emerging sectors including digital assets. Ms Leung joined the SFC in March 2015, serving as Executive Director of the Investment Products Division and later the Intermediaries Division, and was Deputy CEO from March 2018 to December 2022 before becoming CEO in January 2023. The new term takes effect on January 1, 2026.
