The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu delivered a public financial education lesson at the Republican Theoretical Lyceum “Aristotel”, aimed at helping students connect personal financial decision-making with a rapidly changing digital economy. The session discussed Moldova’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and the related benefits of integration into the European payments space, alongside the expansion of cashless payments and measures to increase transaction security. Dragu also covered MIA Instant Payments as a tool to simplify transfers between consumers and businesses, and addressed broader themes linked to European integration and Moldova’s economic development. Students engaged in a Q&A on money management, responsible investing, and how global trends affect the local economy. The event also included a demonstration of a student-developed interactive study table concept that would run learning activities through a phone connected to a digital desk, which is in a testing phase. Dragu received an honorary citizen title from the lyceum, and the central bank presented the school with the recently launched “Mihai Eminescu” commemorative silver coin; the lesson was held under the National Bank of Moldova’s partnership with the lyceum.
