The Central Bank of Egypt announced its participation for the tenth consecutive year in Arab Financial Inclusion Day, an initiative launched by the Arab Monetary Fund and marked annually on 27 April. This year’s programme runs throughout April under the theme “Financial health… individuals’ path toward sustainable and more stable financial inclusion” and focuses on expanding access to financial services while promoting saving and sound financial planning. Banks have been directed to prioritise outreach to groups identified as most in need, including youth, women, farmers and people with disabilities. The activities form part of six financial inclusion events adopted by the Central Bank of Egypt across the year and include allowing banks to operate outside their branches, opening bank accounts with no fees and no minimum balance, encouraging use of e-wallets, and delivering financial awareness initiatives. The central bank also highlighted initiatives for children and young people, including the “School Bank” project, aimed at building financial skills early through education on saving, money management and entrepreneurship.
