Moldova's National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) ran a series of financial education and cybersecurity activities from 25 November to 10 December aimed at helping women avoid financial fraud and use digital financial services more safely. The initiative was part of the national “Moldova without Violence” programme under the global “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign. Across three weeks, around 600 women from 12 rural and urban localities participated in trainings and interactive sessions on consumer rights, selecting safe financial services, key considerations when taking a loan or opening a deposit, insurance contracting, identifying and preventing fraud in payments, lending and insurance, and steps to follow in cases of non-compliance or suspected fraud. CNPF representatives used practical examples from the authority’s work and shared recommendations to reduce financial risks in the context of rapid digitisation. The activities were delivered in partnership with UN Women Moldova, the European Institute of Political Studies in Moldova and the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, with support from Swiss Cooperation in Moldova under the “Women for Peace and Prosperity” project, and were promoted under the message “#NicioScuza for digital violence.”
