The Angola Capital Markets Commission published a statement marking 20 years since its establishment, highlighting its role in regulating, supervising and promoting Angola’s capital markets and in supporting competition, legal certainty and systemic risk prevention. The statement recapped milestones including adoption of the Securities Code, admission as an ordinary member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions, the start of equities trading following approval of the first initial public offering prospectus in Angola, and implementation of an operating model intended to transfer securities and derivatives investment services from banking financial institutions to securities distribution and brokerage firms. It also highlighted the Commission’s contribution to the legal conditions that enabled the state to establish the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange. Planned anniversary activities include a donation campaign for two care centres in Icolo e Bengo and Namibe and a paediatric hospital in Luanda, an internal futsal tournament, a family walk, and a capital markets conference bringing together national and international stakeholders and invited international guests.
