The National Bank of Georgia, together with the Ministry of Finance, hosted the Steering Committee meeting of the International Monetary Fund’s Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC), convening representatives from member countries and donor and partner organizations. The meeting reviewed CCAMTAC’s recent activities and discussed its work program for the coming year. Discussions covered planned regional workshops, financial resources, and upcoming initiatives by CCAMTAC and its partners, with participation including Subir Lall, Deputy Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, and Andrew Jewell, IMF Resident Representative in Georgia. National Bank of Georgia First Vice Governor Ekaterine Mikabadze highlighted the value of IMF support for CCAMTAC and pointed to an National Bank of Georgia-led “educational space” centralized platform launched under Governor Natia Turnava to support professional learning and knowledge exchange across the region. CCAMTAC Director Norbert Funke referenced technical assistance areas including fiscal risk management, banking supervision, and statistics, while Lall emphasized CCAMTAC’s role in the IMF’s regional engagement and Georgia’s contribution to peer collaboration among member countries.
