The Australian Securities & Investments Commission has permanently banned former credit representative Emmanuel Adu of Schofields, New South Wales from engaging in credit activities after finding he made false representations in employment applications for the credit industry. The action follows Mr Adu altering Australian Federal Police certificates on two occasions to remove his prior criminal history when applying to become a credit representative of a credit licensee. He was convicted on 26 November 2024 of two offences for falsification of documents under section 145.4(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth). The ban prohibits him from engaging in any credit activities, controlling another person who engages in credit activities, or performing any function involved in engaging in credit activities, and has been recorded on ASIC’s banned and disqualified register. The banning order took effect from 1 July 2025.
