The National Bank of Georgia reported that Acting Governor Natia Turnava participated in the Lámfalussy Conference hosted by the Central Bank of Hungary and held meetings with the leadership of the Central Bank of Hungary and central bank heads from Central and Eastern Europe. The conference, themed “The Age of Geoeconomics: Evolution of Central Banking” and linked to the Hungarian central bank’s 100th anniversary, included panel discussions on monetary policy and was opened by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Central Bank of Hungary Governor György Matolcsy, and economist Jeffrey Sachs. Turnava said her discussions covered geopolitical challenges, inflation management, macroeconomic conditions across countries, and the role of central banks in normalizing inflation, and also included exchanges with academic participants including Sachs.
