The National Bank of Georgia reported that Vice Governor Ekaterine Galdava participated in a meeting organized by Danmarks Nationalbank on the margins of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Annual Meetings in the United States, focused on digitalization and emerging forms of payments and their potential impact on monetary policy instruments. Central bank representatives exchanged views on new payment instruments being introduced across jurisdictions. Galdava highlighted the National Bank of Georgia’s efforts to support financial technology development to improve payment system efficiency, and the discussion also covered women’s role in central bank governance, with the NBG noting that all senior management members and a majority of the Board are women. The event brought together female leaders from central banks in 25 countries, including the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, the European Central Bank and the Bundesbank.
