The National Bank of Moldova has launched Global Money Week 2025, running from 17 to 21 March 2025, outlining a programme of financial education events including guided museum visits featuring a historic coin press brought to Chişinău by Romania’s State Mint for exhibition at the central bank’s museum. The coin press will be used in interactive demonstrations, with visitors able to take part in producing a symbolic “Global Money Week” coin. The programme also includes the launch of “FinanciarELE – the women’s leadership community”, a dialogue forum hosted by National Bank of Moldova Governor Anca Dragu, focused on information, mentoring opportunities and career support to strengthen female leadership in the financial and banking sector; the first edition will host Moldova-based representatives for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Union Delegation. Additional activities include interactive workshops and training sessions, a workshop for journalists and journalism students on monetary policy, and educational sessions delivered by National Bank of Moldova experts and partners including Romania’s Financial Supervisory Authority and the Independent Analytical Centre “Expert-Grup”, covering topics such as the central bank’s role, MIA instant payments, responsible financial behaviour, the euro as a reference currency, the primary market for government securities and investments. Global Money Week is described as an OECD-led initiative now in its 13th edition, with 176 participating countries.
