The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia presented a new handbook setting out general principles of ethics and minimum standards of professional conduct for insurance organisations, positioning it as a reference framework for day-to-day market conduct and consumer protection. The handbook draws on examples from Georgian practice and a detailed review of international approaches, including European Union regulations and European ethics standards, institutions and codes, and it summarises the International Association of Insurance Supervisors’ (IAIS) view on ethics and corporate culture. The document was developed by the Service’s Legal Department and its Consumer Rights Protection and Financial Education Division, and the launch event included contributions from representatives of Parliament, the judiciary and insurance industry bodies.
